QUEER HISTORY
Explore the vast and complex history of LGBTQ+ life in London, with stories of iconic people and places who have shaped the city and community through the centuries.

Weaving through the streets of London’s West End, we learn about pioneering drag queens from the 1700’s, secret gay soirées of the 1920’s, and the infamous development of Soho, one of the world’s best loved queer neighbourhoods.

Today the LGBTQ+ community’s presence can be seen across every borough and street in London. Though many inequalities still exist, we take pride in a community which has been through so much, from repression and persecution, to violence and discrimination, yet continues to strive towards bringing equality and inclusivity to all.

THE RIVER
London exists because of the River Thames.

On this tour we explore the river’s crucial role in the foundation, development, and sometimes destruction of the capital.

Once famous for its pirates, thieves and forbidden theatres outside the city limits, we explore the river area, the effect of industrialisation, the post-war development of bomb sites, and its 21st century reimaging - with a special focus on More London, The Shard, Borough Market, and Tate Modern.

Strolling along the river’s edge, we look back at the history from the Roman settlement, to the Victoria docklands - visiting Tower Bridge, Hays Galleria, HMS Belfast, The Globe Theatre and more.

A source of life, but also extreme danger, we also examine the countless hidden engineering projects tasked with controlling the beast, from 1800’s sewers, modern flood defences and the new 25km super sewer due for completion in 2025.
